Types of Swimming Lessons Offered

Even though Pasir Ris Swimming Complex offers the public swimming pool, we know that in many cases the need arises for private swimming lessons for kids and private swimming lessons for adults. We also understand that many women feel more comfortable learning to swim from a woman and that is why we offer special swimming lessons for ladies. An added benefit is that swimming strokes and patterns can be different than those of men, and ladies can more easily duplicate the strokes from a woman instructor.

The SwimSafer programme is brand new. It was introduced in July, 2010 by the National Water Safety Council with the support of Singapore Sports council. The program is a fantastic group swimming lessons for kids group as it teaches children how to be safe in the water and learn how to swim.

There are six stages in the SwimSafer programme. Stage 1 is an introduction to water skills where children learn how to become confident and independent while they are in the water. As the child feels more comfortable, they are taught general water safety and how to get in and out of the pool. The Swimming coach shows them how to get back and forth.

Fundamental water skills are taught in stage 2 of the program. The kids will be taught how to get into the water all by themselves and how to handle surface dives. During stage 3 skills in stroke development is taught and personal water survival is focused on.
